Local MP Alister Jack has welcomed direct UK funding into a range of projects in Dumfries and Galloway, confirmed on Wednesday.
Nearly £1m is being is being invested in ground-breaking 21st Century Village -- an addition to the Crichton complex at Dumfries -- which should help the ambitious proposals move forward.
The blueprint includes a multi-generation community eventually with almost 500 homes as part of pioneering care campus.
Allocated from the UK Community Renewal Fund, the £979,710 contribution will go towards preliminary work including a detailed masterplan.
At the same time, a £280,237 contribution from the same fund will go towards the installation of a unique immersive exhibition, focusing on classic children's literature within the existing Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust's existing visitor centre in Dumfries.
Last week UK direct funding for the redevelopment of the Old Town Hall in Whithorn was revealed.
A scheme to upgrade Grade-B listed building to become a multiple-use museum and arts venue will receive £300,000.
The project, being taken forward by The Whithorn Trust through a social enterprise, will have the bonus of equiping young people with traditional stonemasonry and joinery skills during the restoration.
An important aspect of the development will be the design's state-of-the-art energy efficiency.
Meanwhile, a UK funding worth £175,000 will help fund an upgrade to New Galloway Town Hall creating an accessible, functional, low emission space for community use.
Following the formal announcement, Dumfries and Galloway MP and Scottish Secretary Alister Jack said: "This carefully targeted funding illustrates how the UK Government is investing in our communities to help enhance them for the future.
"They are significant developments which should have social, economic and educational value: making an impact for generations to come."
