Local MP helps dog welfare charity in fight against puppy smuggling

Last week Alister Jack, MP for Dumfries and Galloway attended the Dogs Trust annual House of Commons reception, where the charity – who coined the famous slogan – ‘A dog is for Life, not just for Christmas’ asked MPs for their support in the fight against Puppy Smuggling.

Winner of Christmas card competition announced

Ann Jack, wife of local MP Alister Jack, presented the winner of the Dumfries and Galloway MP’s inaugural ‘design my Christmas card competition’ with their prize last week.

The winning design came from Aslan Akarsu, a pupil at Kirkinner Primary School in the Machars.

Alister Jack has spoken out against a second independence referendum during a Westminster Hall debate in Parliament this week.

The debate was brought forward by SNP MP Martyn Day on behalf of the Petitions Committee to consider two petitions submitted by members of the public.
